My dad told me that the following phrase is used at military award services to describe heroism:
"Above and beyond the call of duty."
This is what the government, and two people in particular, did for me and my family. They went "above and beyond the call of duty," and we will be forever grateful to them for their service to us and to our country in general.
Both Sergeant Davis and Sergeant Glaspie helped my family through our time in Washington D.C., taking care of all of our needs and showing us care and kindness. Below are pictures of Sergeant Davis and Sergeant Glaspie (helping my aunt Donna in the limo):
I cannot begin to express my thankfulness to them both, and especially to Sergeant Davis for not only being an amazing example to me, but also for being an amazing friend.
And now for you, my readers, I have one request to make. If you have not already done so, please look at all of my posts for this trip to Washington D.C. (Go to the Labels section in the sidebar, click "Washington D.C.," and start reading the posts from the bottom, working your way up.) It will take some time, but these are some of the most important posts I have ever (or will ever) put together on this blog, particularly those posts with the videos.
To Sergeant Davis, Sergeant Glaspie, and all those in the United States military:
Thank you for going "above and beyond the call of duty." Your sacrifices will be remembered forever.

It's been so hard to leave comments after the beautiful ones other readers have left!!
Your posts have truly moved me, though, and the videos!! Wow! They stayed with me, and had me crying like a baby!!!
I'm so glad you got to experience this trip. I've never been, but it definitely looks like one that will always stay close to your heart! Especially, since you got to spend it with your dad. That's precious memories alone. Thank you for taking so much time to share all of this with us. Even if we can't go, we've gotten to experience so much through you! :)
I've been reading your posts this week Amber. Haven't had the time to reply until now, as real life sorta got in the way for me this week.
It sounds like you had an amazing week, filled with precious memories.
Oh, Bluerose!
Your comments are just as sweet, and I am touched by your words! I really appreciate you taking the time to read these posts, and I'm so glad that the videos moved you. All I did was put together the pictures and pick out songs that I thought fit well with the message I was trying to convey. I hope God uses them for His glory!
I've cried enough tears these past few days for a lifetime it seems, and I feel that I've changed because of this experience. And yes, spending time with my dad and his side of the family was wonderful, and we really needed that time to be together.
Thank you again, and I have been blessed to share this with all of you!

Michelle,
Thank you so much for reading them, and thank you for letting me know! I know it's a lot to ask when there's so much going on in everyone's lives, but I just really felt that I had learned so much during this time, and I wanted others to learn and be moved along with me.
I hope all is well with you and yours, and thank you again for joining me on this journey this past week!

The Lord knows just how to bless His children and I'm just so happy He sent you and your family a couple of angels to help and bless you guys during your time in D.C. He calls us to be His hands and feet, so it's such a humbling surprise when He uses others to bless and encourage us- because sometimes we need a hand or a foot, too :)
Once again, another beautiful, inspiring post, Amber! I just LOVE your blog :)
Blessings,
Amanda Stanley
Amanda,
You are so right! These two were just like angels, and I am so grateful for all they did to care for our family. :) I just love the way you word your comments, Amanda! Your writing is beautiful (I know I've said that before, but it's true!).
And thank you so, so much for your encouraging words! What blogger wouldn't love to hear those words about their blog? Thank you for being such an amazing friend, Amanda!
God bless!
~Amber
