Credits

The credits are rolling, and I would now like to share with you one of my favorite directors: Michael Landon Jr. From http://www.imdb.com/, here's a list of the movies he has directed:
  • Michael Landon: Memories with Laughter and Love
  • Michael Landon, the Father I Knew
  • Love Comes Softly
  • Love's Enduring Promise
  • Love's Long Journey
  • Love's Abiding Joy
  • The Last Sin Eater
  • Saving Sarah Cain
  • The Velveteen Rabbit
  • When Calls the Heart (2010)
He has also written, acted in, and produced other movies/productions. I have seen all but the first two (and the last) on the list above, and I have loved each one of them. His movies have a purpose to them, and I think they really share God's love with the viewers.

I am a big fan of the Love Comes Softly series, and I think the first three are my favorites. I also love The Last Sin Eater. I read the book after I watched the movie, and I thought the movie followed the book very nicely. What a moving story! The story shares a different, unique perspective on Jesus and His sacrifice, and in my opinion it is a great reminder of just how great the cost Jesus paid for our sins is and how great God's grace is. I highly recommend the movie for older teens and adults.

For younger children, I happily recommend The Velveteen Rabbit. When I was younger, I used to watch an animated version of this story. I think Michael Landon Jr.'s take on this story is superb, and I really enjoyed it. I think the combination of animation and real-life acting really added to the movie, and it is such a sweet story!

I hope that When Calls the Heart really does come out this year! This is another movie based on a book by Janette Oke (who wrote the Love Comes Softly books), and I can't wait to see it!

Do you have any favorite directors? You can also share any of your favorite producers, actors, stunt doubles . . . you're choice! Let's keep those credits rolling!

Hi Amber, You have such a wonderful blog and I love the name for it you've chosen! It's a treat to meet you here in cyberspace. From one English major to another, I sense your love of books and writing. You remind me of myself 20 years ago:) Only there was no such thing as blogs back then!

I love your list here. The Janette Oke films are so well done. You've given me a few to look for:) Bless you today!

Thank you so much, Laura! I really appreciate your visit, as well as your kind words. :) I hope someday I can become an author, as well!

I hope you can check out some of Michael Landon Jr.'s other movies. He's a great director/producer/writer!

Have a wonderful weekend!

I haven't seen any of the Janette Oke films even though I've read the series and loved it. Will have to check them out.

The only director I can think of is Steven Spielberg and I love the Indiana Jones movies. Is George Lucas a director? If so, you can add him to my favorites...love the Star War movies.

As for some favorite actors and actresses I would have to say Judy Garland, Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, Cary Grant..to name a few. As you can tell I love older movies especially musicals. :)

Speaking of movies...guess my husband and I are going to go check out Robin Hood this weekend. I'm not sure if I'll like it but hopefully I will.

Angie,

Oh, yes! You should check out the Love Comes Softly movies--especially the first three! The others are good, too (I have all eight of the movies!), but the first three are my favorites. :)

Have you seen the movie Always? I just watched it again with my parents, and it is directed by Steven Spielberg. It is a wonderful movie that encompasses the whole emotional spectrum. It really made me cry a lot this last time!

A lot of the older movies/musicals are really fun! I was in a musical last fall at my college. We did State Fair (Rodgers and Hammerstein). Have you seen that movie? I also LOVE The Music Man! Such a classic!

Hope you enjoy watching Robin Hood this weekend! :)
