Camp Humility 2012 Itinerary

Welcome to the Third Annual Camp Humility!

How fun that this is the third year I get to host this! Camp Humility is one of my favorite themed weeks to put together. Why? Because Camp Humility is supposed to be a type of virtual summer camp - a week for us bloggers to celebrate community and humility together.

So don't let the "camp" part scare you! We're not really roughing it... I picture us at a sunny retreat, complete with cabins and bunk beds and a fire pit for our nightly campfires - not to mention that lovely river nearby and plenty of beautiful trails for us to enjoy. =)

Are you ready to begin? As you're getting settled in to your assigned cabin, I'll read you the itinerary for this week:

• Monday (Today): Welcome/Giveaway announcement
• Tuesday: Fishing
• Wednesday: Surprise Activity
• Thursday: Writing
• Friday: Hiking

(I think I might have a fun idea for Wednesday, but in case it doesn't work out the way I want it to, I'll wait to announce it, LOL! And Thursday's activity may not seem like a "camping" activity necessarily, but what better time and place to have a mini writing retreat, right?)

There will be two posts here each day. The itinerary above shows what will be going on during the morning on those days, and then each night we will spend some time around the campfire - eating virtual s'mores and sharing devotionals (etc.).

Camp Humility 2011 Itinerary

Welcome to the Second Annual Camp Humility!

Like last year, Camp Humility is more of a summer camp than the "roughing it"-style of camping. And as such, there is a full itinerary planned for this week so that all of us campers can learn more about each other, seek humility and faith together, and all in all just have a fun time celebrating the beginning of summer!

Here's what this week's schedule looks like:

• Monday (today): Welcome/Giveaway announcement
• Tuesday: Rafting and nighttime canoeing
• Wednesday: Hiking
  
• Thursday: Horseback riding
  
• Friday: Crafts and evening farewell/winner announcement

For the returners, you will recognize several repeat activities, as well as a couple of new ones. However, all of the activities this week will be unique because it's a new year with new posts and possibly some new campers!

Also, like last year there will be "campfire" posts each evening, except for the night we go canoeing. Our times around the campfire will involve either devotionals, discussions, or stories, and of course there will be virtual s'mores for everyone! ;) At the last campfire on Friday night I'll announce the giveaway winner.

This year's giveaway is a $15 Amazon.com gift card! A gift card works well because I can e-mail it directly to the winner, and after camp the winner can buy a book, a movie, an MP3 CD, or maybe even a guide to camping!

Welcome to Camp Humility!


I admit, the title of this week's posts can be a bit deceiving. What I really want is for this week to be more like summer camp, rather than actually "roughing it." (Let's say we're on a summer retreat in a nice home in the woods like the one pictured above that my family and I stayed in last summer in Sunriver, OR.)

Now, here's the itinerary so you can make sure you're all packed for a fun and refreshing week!

• Saturday: Farewell

On top of these posts, I'm planning on posting in the evening (Monday-Friday). These evening posts will be our time around the campfire, with devotions and stories (except for Wednesday, which will be a fun night game!). At the last campfire Friday night, I will announce the winners of the giveaways.
