Monday for the Military

When my daddy showed the videos I had compiled of the pictures we had taken in Washington D.C. to the people at the MOAA (Military Officers Association of America) meeting at the end of summer, I was surprised by a gift from the Coast Guard Captain (the meeting was held at the local Coast Guard station). Here are some pictures of what he gave me:

Above is the front side of the coin. Below is the back side of the coin. (Click pictures to enlarge.)

Honor. Respect. Devotion to Duty. The United States military embodies all of those ideals. I was so blessed that the Captain was touched by the videos (which, if you haven't seen them yet, you can find them HERE and HERE). And I have been blessed by his friendship and kindness since that day. My encounters with military and women have been wonderful--these people are such amazing examples of sacrifice, love, and patriotism.

Which brings me to a question I want to ask you, my readers: would you like to "meet" some military men and women through my blog? I have been thinking about using "Mondays for the Military" to profile some military and women, giving them a chance to share about who they are and what they do, and giving us a chance to encourage them and know how we can pray for them.

If I did follow through with this idea, would you leave comments for them? I think it would be wonderful if we could show just some of these military men and women our support and gratitude. What do you think?

I would love the opportunity to encourage and to know how to pray for them. There are so many that have sacrificed so much. I was just thinking it so fits your blog because of the sacrifices.

Julia,

I'm so glad! :) I would love the opportunity, too! I think it would be neat to hear some of their stories and what sorts of difficulties they've faced, along with how they've seen God work. They have indeed sacrificed so much for us.

And thank you for making that connection! I haven't really thought too deeply about it, but it is true that humility is an important part of making sacrifices and being in the military. :)

Thank you for your support!

As much as I said before that Monday for the Military was my least favorite day, I would love to meet military people through your blog! And while I wouldn't always comment, I would every once in awhile :)

Thank you for your feedback! :) I'm glad to hear that you would like to meet some military men and women through my blog. I think it would be really neat if I could get some of them to "visit!"

Gina,

Oh, thank you! :) I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm so excited because I think I have found someone to do the first military profile for "Mondays for the Military!" Yay!

Anyway, thank you so much for the award! What a surprise! :D I'm so happy you like my blog, and I hope it is helpful and encouraging to you.

I would definitely love to hear about military people. It is great to pray specific names and situations sometimes, as opposed to in general.
I know lots of them through my church, and I know the sacrifices they have to make. For example, there's one young man who is expecting his first child in February, but he will be deployed in January. That breaks my heart!

Bluerose,

So glad you agree. :) I think it will be really neat for us to hear their stories and know how we can pray for them. Plus, I think it will be great to be able to encourage specific people and thank them for their service!

That is so sad about the young man in your church. :( I can't imagine how hard that would be, for both him and his wife! What a sacrifice to make for our country.

Well, like I said to Gina, I talked to someone today who seems to be willing to be interviewed and/or share some of his experiences soon, so I'm really excited about that! :) Thank you for your support!

What a WONDERFUL idea, Amber!! Oh, I would just LOVE to meet military people and hear their stories and encourage them! But, most of all, I'd love to personally thank them for all they have done and are willing to do for us :) I pray the Lord will work all the specifics out for you and that it will be a blessing to all!

And, what a special gift you received from the Coast Guard Captain!! I'm so blessed for you, not only for the gift, but that they got to see your wonderful and inspiring videos! You are a blessing, my friend, and the Lord uses you all the time :)

Praying you have a beautiful day!

Blessings,
Amanda Stanley

Amanda,

Oh, thank you! I really appreciate your enthusiasm and support! You are such a wonderful encourager, I just know that these men and women would be blessed by your words. :)

I just got an e-mail from someone I was contacting in the Coast Guard, so I'm really excited to see this idea continuing to expand! If it's God's will, I know He can use this feature in a big way. :D

Thank you once again for your kind words and for being such an amazing friend! Hope you have a great day, as well!
