True Love Tuesday

Based on the poll I had going the last few days, I think you can guess what today's topic is: the "Love Finds You" series!

There's so much to love about the "Love Finds You" books! Not only do they take us to various locations across the United States, to places with great and memorable names, but they also take us through various periods of time, from the Old West to World War II to modern day. And the overall message of the series title is a lovely reminder: "Love Finds You" anywhere!

God's love is not limited by either time or space (or anything else, for that matter!). Our love for each other should be unlimited, as well. If we truly love someone else, we'll love them no matter how far away they are and no matter how much time goes by, because love "beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things" (1 Corinthians 13:7).

Of all the "Love Finds You" books I've read, I think my two favorites so far are Love Finds You in Hershey, Pennsylvania and Love Finds You in Lahaina, Hawaii.

Love Finds You in Hershey, Pennsylvania reminds us that true love forgives and doesn't give up on the other person. Yes, we hurt each other. We all mess up; we all sin. But just as God forgives us, so we must forgive each other. That's a wonderful lesson to learn, and one I need to remember to take to heart!

Love Fin
ds You in Lahaina, Hawaii reminds us (at least through the contemporary strand) that true love sees the person for who they really are. Love should look at who the person is in their soul; love should not focus primarily on the outward appearances. First Samuel 16: 7 says, "But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." And that's what we should strive to do, as well. Again, it's easier said than done, but we should always try our best, through God's grace, to love as He loves.

To read my review of this enthralling book, click HERE. (Because there are two strands--contemporary and historical--in this story, there's lots to take from it, so I just picked one idea!)

I'm excited because I have two more "Love Finds You" books already in my TBR stack! I'm planning on starting Love Finds You in Victory Heights, Washington next. I love these stories, and I'm curious: which "Love Finds You" books are your favorites so far? What have you learned about true love from them?

Oh, and I'll share the poll results with you! The question was: "Which state would you like to see as the next setting for a 'Love Finds You' book?" The results were as follows:
  • Arizona (0--0%)
  • Louisiana (2--40%)
  • Maine (1--1%)
  • New York (1--20%)
  • Wyoming (0--0%)
  • Other (1--20%)
I guess we have so many of those wonderful Wild Wests settings that we are curious to hear more about those Southern and Eastern states! ;) Louisiana won, and I have to say that I wouldn't mind a "Love Finds You" book with some Cajun flavor!

If the person who voted "Other" is willing, I'm interested to see what other state you had in mind!

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on true love and the "Love Finds You" series!

Kaye Dacus has done a series set in Louisiana. Can't think of all the titles but A Case for Love is one of them. I got a real sense of the area from her descriptions in the book.

As to the Love Finds You series...I haven't read a single one...yet. I'm taking your glowing recommendations to heart though and will seek some out and let you know what I think. Neat premise for a series. I wonder if the varied authors had to follow certain guidelines?

I'm going to LOVE True Love Tuesdays.

Amber,

I'm so honored LFY Hershey made it into your top two choices!!! Big smiles all around!!! I'm taking a friend on a tour of Hershey next week, and when I do, I'll eat a Hershey's Kiss in your honor. ;) Thanks!

I haven't read a single LFY book yet, either. I really want to, though. I only heard good things about Cerella's book, so it's been on my wish list for awhile.
I was the one who voted other. I really want to see an Alabama book. I've been scouting the lists to keep up with if one is even being considered, but no luck yet! :)
If you didn't have the other option, I would have voted Louisiana. There's so many states that have books already that I really want to read about!

My faves so far are probably LFYI Hershey PA, which you mentioned, and LFYI Snowball, Arkansas, by Sandra Bricker. Both are CONTEMPORARY fiction believe it or not, considereing I'm such a fan of historicals that's saying a lot about how good these two are! I hope you enjoy LFYI Victory Heights, I'm reviewing that one too so I'm hoping it's good!

Oh my goodness! Can it really be true? That many of you guys haven't read ANY of the LFY books?! I guess I know what would make a good give-away books sometime... ;)

HANNAH: Do you have a Walmart near where you live? They sometimes have them at Walmarts over here on the West Coast...

And you're going to a funeral? :( I'm so sorry, Hannah. May the Lord comfort all those who knew whomever passed away.

KAV: I haven't read that series, but it sounds good! One I really loved set in Louisiana was Under the Cajun Moon by Mindy Starns Clark. It's a really good romance/mystery! :)

And yes, I think the authors do have some guidelines to follow. If you go to http://www.summersidepress.com and click on "Submissions," you should be able to see the guidelines. And while you're at that website, you can check out all the wonderful titles in the LFY series! ;)

Glad to hear you're excited about True Love Tuesdays!

CERELLA: Your book was wonderful, and I'm hoping to read more from you in the future! ;) Enjoy touring Hershey with your friend, and enjoy that Hershey's Kiss in my honor! You're so sweet! :D

BLUEROSE: Cerella's book is a great one to have on your wish-list. You won't be disappointed! :)

Thanks for letting us know what was the "Other" state. ;) Alabama would definitely be an interesting setting, as well. There are quite a few states that have already been used as settings (some multiple times), so I'm curious if we're going to ever hear about all 50 states!

ARIEL: You should! :) Hope you get a chance to, soon, because they're very good for the most part. They're all in different times, places, and written by different authors, so each one is its own unique experience.

RENEE: I haven't read LFYI in Snowball, Arkansas. But Sandra Bricker is the author of that book (Always the Baker, Never the Bride) that you mentioned on your blog, right? :) And isn't LFYI Hershey, Pennsylvania so good?!

Hope you, too, enjoy LFYI Victory Heights, Washington! :D

I can't wait to read the ones you mentioned. Cerella is just a hoot and I really enjoy her blog. And I've really enjoyed the Thoene's WWII series.

Oh, I lied! Silly me. I did win one and I won it on Laura Frantz's sight. Love Finds You in Liberty, Indiana. It's a historical about the underground railroad. I found it fascinating, but the romance part didn't come until about the last quarter of the book so I wouldn't exactly classify it as a romance.

Kav said...

oops, that should be I did read one. :-)

JULIA: Oh, I think you will love them both! Cerella as a person is wonderful, and Cerella as an author is wonderful, too! ;) And I really enjoyed LFY in Lahaina, Hawaii.

Hope you get to read them soon!

KAV: Isn't Laura's blog great? :) That's a bummer that the book didn't have too much romance in it, though. :( I hope you get to read other LFY books, too!
