Posting in the Air!

Hello from the air above the United States! Isn't it amazing that they have Internet access up here? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a blogger, so I simply had to take it!

The day started early for us, but thankfully nothing too eventful has happened. =) I took a few notes on our first flight to make sure I could share how beautiful it was! Here they are, with some changes/additions:
  • The ocean looked so close! When you're flying above a city, you can see how high up you are because all the buildings and roads look so small. But the sea is just endless blue! We were only over the ocean for a short time, though, before we turned and headed East to Redding.
  • The horizon was fuzzy pink at the edges.
  • The fog was like cotton pulled and stretched into valleys and towns. It was a nice change to see the fog from above instead of being beneath it!
  • I could see hills of gold and shadow, and also distant blue, light-shrouded peaks. Gorgeous! I could have started singing the song from Oklahoma! ("Oh, what a beautiful morning...")!
  • Looking out at the engine reminded me of Madagascar 2. I was happy, though, that no crazy, little critter was standing there, ready to be blown off!
  • The ride was loud!!! I think I forgot how loud those smaller planes can be.
Anyway, we made it to L.A. safely, and now we're on our way to D.C.! A Passion Denied is keeping me company today. =) Talk to you soon--from our nation's capital!

Glad it's you in that plane and not me! I'm afraid of heights and flying. Hope you have a safe flight!

XOXO~ Renee

When I took my one flight, I really enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. Exciting to know you were typing from the air. :) APD is a GREAT book to keep you company. Enjoy the read and vacation. Looking forward to those pictures. :)

How proud you must be to have a WWII hero in your family! Hey, I'm hoping maybe someday to see a WWII story coming from you.

I just started A Passion Most Pure and am enjoying it. Enjoy A Passion Denied!

Renee,

Thank you! I did indeed have a safe flight! :) There was a bit of turbulence, and there's quite the dark storm going on right now in D.C., but nothing too scary. ;)

I'm sorry you don't enjoy flying, but I hope you don't mind living through the trip vicariously through me!

Casey,

Flying is an interesting experience for sure, and I enjoy it for the most part. :) And thank you for your enthusiasm--I thought it was the coolest thing that I could blog from 30,000+ feet in the air!!!

And yes, A Passion Denied is great company! The O'Connor family is wonderful. :)

Thank you for your kind words, and I hope you enjoy my posts for this trip!

Julia,

It is very neat to be related to Robert Crane! :D I know he was "only" a Private, but no matter what rank, each person in the military sacrifices so much for the sake of our freedom--for which we are extremely grateful.

And I confess that I haven't really thought too much about writing a WW2 novel--although you've given me some food for thought! ;) I'm quite in love with the 19th century, myself, but there's so many possibilities in any era for a great story!

I hope you enjoy A Passion Most Pure as much as I did! :D I confess that I sort of...skimmed...A Passion Denied last year (at least from what I can recall), but I'm enjoying going through it now and catching up with the O'Connor family before the release of A Hope Undaunted! So excited!!!

Amber,

Doesn't matter what the rank, all are heroes as you said. My hubby's Grandpa was involved in Operation Fortitude. Basically they used inflatable "dummy" tanks. He doesn't like to share about it much, though. You definitely have a right to be proud of your uncle :).

The 19th century is my favorite, too, I think :)

Loving Passion Most Pure! Have a great time in DC!

Julia,

Thank you! I totally agree! And I thank your husband's grandpa for his service, being willing to do anything for his country, no matter what he was needed to do. :)

That's neat that we both share a love of the 19th century, too!
